Kenan Sofuoğlu Supersport'a dönüşe hazır - Sofuoglu ready for Supersport return

Kenan Sofuoglu is confident he can make a winning start to his 2009 World Supersport campaign after coming away from testing at Phillip Island with the quickest lap time.

The Turk, who returns to the Supersport class after a troubled season riding a Superbike, struggled on the opening day of the test as he worked on finding an appropriate set-up for the Ten Kate Honda.

Nonetheless, the 2007 champion swept to the top of the timesheets with a best lap of 1min 34.7secs on the final day of the test, giving him confidence ahead of the opening round at the same circuit later in the week.

“I am very happy and cannot wait to race my bike again next weekend,” he said. “It was a little difficult to find a rhythm on the first day of this test but it all came together on day two and the bike is feeling fantastic again.

“There is still some more to come but I'm comfortable with the bike, the team and everything, so I'm really feeling positive for the season ahead.”

Team-mate and reigning champion Andrew Pitt is also feeling good about his return to home ground after finishing just a tenth adrift of Sofuoglu.

“The times have been pretty good, even though we had a few problems yesterday and only managed about an hour in the morning when the conditions here are at their best. We made some changes and today I did a few laps first thing, changed tyres and was on it straight away.

“I'm looking forward to the race next weekend, especially starting the season at home as world champion.”
